Melvyn’s is great! I find myself in Palm Springs about once a year or so. Whenever I make it back to Melvyn’s, I plan to do a little write up for my new blog.
The tradition of tableside flambee dishes seems to be slowly fading away, unfortunately. I think that if you go to a place that offers such items, you should definitely order them. It’s a wonderful experience that takes you back several decades.
I’ve seen some comments on other sites that dismiss this kind of presentation as just some tired, fuddy-duddy ostentation. But I say, if I’m going to drop $85 on dinner, a drink and a dessert, the meal better come with a show, too!
